Glutenfree
I roamed the Internet for food I haven’t shown here in doubledipping and found the JICAMA! Probably the most exciting vegetable you are not eating – yet!
Isn't this a lovely place ? Here in the heart of Vienna you will find since last year a raw bakery making delicious and nutritious cakes, cupcakes, truffles, salads and more, you can order green smoothies and almond milk, the ingredients are healthy vegetables and fruits and nuts and seeds.
All is vegan, gluten-free, lactose-free, soy-free, and sugar-free.
Are you curious now? I was ! What on earth do they put into their cakes to make it tasty and be attractive to the Viennese who are really spoilt by their tradition. In the vicinity of established bakeries and pastry shops, chocolate havens and the famous Coffee Houses with their vitrines full of temptations that have centuries of history here! You must try it out, promise me, please!
I fell in love with the place immediately, I felt welcome right away, I felt great when I left because all I ate was yummy and healthy and good for me ! One must feel at home here when you see how this place is designed by Shanna herself a graphic designer and daughter of Gabriele.
OK another reason why I just love Simply Raw Bakery: A mother – daughter enterprise ! Just like Sophie and I !!! Gabriela has completed her Raw Food Chef degree in California at the Matthew Kenney Academy. She combines her skills and techniques with the talent of her daughter Shanna in this unique place for healthy indulgence that taste terrific and makes you want to come back soon. I particularly love the slice of " break with onion lard" The bread is made of zucchini, nuts, seeds and spices a secret recipe created by them and the substitute for lard is purely vegan and outstanding in taste. The Pumpkin tart was spiced with kurkuma and curry and the base is made with chia and almonds and oriental spices! Then we had "Kaiserschmarrn with Röster", something very Austrian:
The Kaiserschmarrn must be translated with "Emporer's Nonsense", a Röster is made of plums, mostly in form of a compote. This version again was raw healthy, no sugar great taste and a very good combination with the plums. They make cupcakes and smoothies and my favorite of all time is the "Hello Dolly" bar made of nuts: Oh My! I always take it home when I am there! Then there is a heart warming Almond milk and a great large bowl of fresh Zucchini noodles.
Open from 10 am to 6 pm from Tuesday to Saturday. You can have breakfast and lunch and everything in between.
If you like to try one of their "Lucky Truffles":
1/4 cup organic orange juice
1 cup dates, pitted
2 cups ground almonds
1 tsp cinnamon
1tsp vanilla
dash of salt
coconut flakes or ground nuts for rolling
They are done in 10 min and here is the trick:
Soak the dates at least for one hour in orange juice and mix in a strong blender together with all the ingredients into a paste like dough. I recommend a Vitamix of some kind. Most important is the power of the blender, some might not be up for the task. Form balls and roll them in either coconut or nuts. Refrigerate for at least 3 hours.

Are you searching for inspiration? I am always , and I look for it in the internet, in my cookbooks on the menus of all the restaurants and through the windows of creative food stores and caterers.
Do you know that we cannot just see something and not be influenced by it? When it comes to food, that is only partially true because we do not gain weight as long as we just admire it and I am so thankful it does not end up on the hips for all the cookbooks and magazines I read all the time. But when it comes to movies, let alone the news, we feel strong emotions looking at the pictures. They can lift us up, or pull us down, they can motivate us and manipulate us and we have so little control over it.
Looking at food however like the photos of this recipe, shall make you happy and lift you up and eating them will give you power as well. Gluten-free and free of guilt.
Another recipe by my friend Claudia !
You Need
Chocolate chips homemade:
120 gr/ 1 cup cashews, soaked for two hours
60gr/ 1/2 cup maple sirup
60gr/ 1/2 cup Cocoa powder
1 tsp Vanilla-powder
pinch of salt
Mix all the above ingredients except the cocoa powder. Add the sifted Cocoapowder and mix until smooth. Squeeze small drops with the help of an icing bag on a parchment paper and let dry at maximum 42° in a dehydrator. They are really worth the effort, much better than the bought version with milk and sugar and chewy, yes chewy! I love them and would eat it any time on its own as a treat!
If you are not allergic you can use the store bought ones look at the label to make sure you get those without sugar.
Cookies:
300gr / 2 1/2 cups fine cashew flour
210gr / 1 3/4 cups Gluten-free oatmeal flour
60gr / 1/2 cup maple sirup
1 tbsp coconut flower sugar
1 tbsp vanilla powder
1/2 tbsp sea salt
1 cup of the above chocolate chips, you can also use real raw cocoa nips, then add a little more sweetness
Mix all except the chips they must be added last and form cookies of your preferred size, mine are 5 cm in diameter and let them dry in the dyhadrator for 1/2 a day/over night if you like them on the chewy side.

We decided to treat you with an inspiring Advent Calendar this December and invite you to SIGN UP with us to slow down your day for just 3 minutes and let the photos take you someplace cosy. The only thing we cannot manage is to send along some fragrances while you enjoy. The smell of hot mulled wine, a perfumed candle with pomegranate or fir tree fragrance.
Maybe you might just think you can even smell it while you read the post ...
The old, old trees below our house are the most beautiful ones to me!
I was recently asked for fail-safe Christmas Eve menu, easy to prepare and less stressful for everyone. I have an answer, and I promise I will share this one with you soon!
For now I am so excited to show you some recipes I made with my friend Claudia, who is a raw food chef and comes up with the most delicious recipes, that are simple and taste delicious.
Remember the Palatschinken or the Gluten-free Apricot Cake from June this year?
No cooking, just guilt free healthy goodness
You Need
120 gr/ 1 cup macadamia nuts raw
1 tbsp matcha tea powder
2 tbsp agave sirup
2 tbsp coconut butter melted at 42°C
A pinch of salt
All goes into the food processor and done!
Chocolate Glaze:
60gr/ 1/2 cup cocoa butter melted at 42°C
60gr/ 1/2 cup cocoa powder sifted
2 tbsp agave sirup
pinch of salt
Mix all well until smooth in consistency.
Mix in a food processor even more until very fine
Your food processor must be much better than mine, I had to transfer the mix to my PacoJet and then I was happy with the consistency!
The mix can be easily formed into small balls between your palms and then you first pierc them with a toothpick dip them in chocolate and place them with the help of a second toothpick onto a plate or even better on a parchment paper, so you can remove them easily after they dry.
Serve them with some black tea no sugar or milk and enjoy
