For Thanksgiving I went on a roadtrip to Newport and Nantucket. Granted it isn't exactly prime time vacationing in these destinations, but I absolutely love off season travel and exploring empty streets. We started out in Newport, where traffic coming in robbed us of our dinner, but the next day we set out to explore on the Cliff Walk and looking at the old mansions in historic Newport. We stayed at the Vanderbilt Grace and absolutely loved the large rooms and the stunning view from the rooftop, plus the downtown location is so convenient. Newport reminded me so much of one of my all time favorite movies: High Society (if you haven't watched it, watch it immediately and thank me later). We had lunch at the Castle Hill Inn with lobster rolls and delicious oysters after completing the Ocean Avenue historic drive for more real estate stalking.

After lunch we drove to the ferry station to take the boat to Nantucket and checked into Greydon House. I cannot recommend Greydon enough with its cute nautical interiors and cozy bar and restaurant. Perfect for feeling at home, even in winter (and what's not to love about vintage telephones). After an incredible dinner at Nautilus (and seriously everything here is so uniquely flavorful, make sure you reserve in advance) we settled in at the bar with hot toddies feeling sad about having to leave the next day.
