After half a day in San Francisco, we hopped in a car and drove down Highway 1 through Monterey, Carmel and Big Sur. It felt so surreal to finally be able to drive down this famous highway and see the beautiful coastline. I had to restrain myself from stopping the car every two minutes, because everything was so incredibly picturesque and quite frankly, I didn't want to annoy my travel buddy. If you go to Big Sur, you should just enjoy the ride and stop wherever possible to take it all in. We stayed the night in Monterey on our way back, but I definitely want to go back to spend more time hiking in Big Sur. My favorite stops were: McWay Falls, Pfeiffer State Beach, Big Sur Bakery, Bixby Bridge and the 17 Mile Drive.
