What to do in Macao

I have to admit, Macao was never a city I envisioned myself spending extended amounts of time in. 8 years ago my parents and I spent a day here, but to be perfectly honest I barely remember a thing and I've been told Macao has changed so much since then. If you've been following along on instagram, you'll already know I spent two weeks in Macau. Aside from the construction of incredible new hotels and casinos, Macao's old town quietly subsists on the sidelines, and happens to be my favorite part of Macao. You can recognize the Portuguese influence in buildings and cuisine at almost every corner. I also really loved the red doors street (Rua da Felicidade), which inspired me to shoot a style post there.

I was also really excited to find two NYC style coffee shops in Macao, Single Origin and the Terra Coffee Room, with impeccable cappuccinos and creamy Japanese milk.

One of Macau's specialties is a play on Portuguese custard tarts, with more egg. Creamy and crispy at the same time, these are a real treat while warm. Find the infamous "original" Macau ones at Lord Stow's.
