Sometimes when I have the first bite of a dish, and I really love it, or the flavors surprise me in some way, I need a moment of silence to savor the food before resuming conversation with people around the table (weird, I know). That's how my friend Ty and I felt at Root & Bone, only with every single thing we had. Root & Bone is an icredible, southern-style, fairly new restaurant in New York's Alphabet City. We went for an early week day lunch and I love that they serve half plates of all their dishes so you can try as many as you can stomach. We started out with their Grandma Daisy's angel biscuits, and true to the name their were airy as clouds and a great compliment to the honey roast chicken jus. We also shared the meat loaf, served with a poached egg and half a bucket of fried chicken with spiked tabasco honey (I mean, how can you not?). They also serve their own take on deviled eggs, which I really enjoyed. I only wish I could have somehow eaten more...
I definitely recommend going, and going ASAP, because if you don't you're missing out.
